Matthias Port has been head of the Institute of Radiobiology of the German Armed Forces affiliated to the University of Ulm since 2014. He received his MD from the University of Ulm and his PhD degree from the Hannover Medical School. Board certified in internal medicine, hematology, oncology and palliative care and trained in radiobiology, he is an expert in the field of medical radiation protection, early and late effects of radiation damage. Involved in the network of national and international organization, he is dedicated among others to the Radiation Emergency Medical Preparedness and Assistance Network of the WHO, the Response and Assistance Network of the IAEA, the German Radiation Protection Commission and NATO. Dr. Port’s research interests include tumorbiology, radiobiology, gene expression and personalized medicine.
