The French military and foreign intelligence services recently published a declassified report which concluded that forces loyal to the Syrian government carried out a sarin nerve gas attack in Khan Sheikhoun on April 4th. Earlier it had already been proven that the attack involved sarin gas that killed a large amount of civilians, including many children. The attack in Khan Sheikhoun once again demonstrates that conflict parties do not shy away from using non-conventional weapons. Current state of affairs only seem to deteriorate as the Syrian people face brutal attacks on a daily basis and their hope for cessation of violence and political transition diminishes…

The workshop on “Non-conventional warfare in Syria” offers the audience the opportunity to discuss the Syrian civil war and the use of chemical weapons with experts that have worked in the field and have hands-on experience in the Syrian conflict. Amongst others, Dr. Houssam Alnahhas, nominated by the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, will share his experience in developing medical preparedness and response protocols in case of chemical attacks. The open and roundtable format of this workshop stimulates interactive knowledge sharing within a trusted environment.
